1. It saves you a lot of clicks - by displaying all pictures and videos that are linked to.
This is probably good only if you follow people selectively.
Update: Not all pics are displayed in the timeline. A non-exhaustive list of what's supported & not supported:
YES - twitpic.com / yfrog.com / maps.google.com / youtube.com
NO - flickr.com / bestc.am / pic.gd / tweetphoto.com / ustre.am
2. Full URLs are displayed instead of the shortened ones.
Is this important? Yes and No. Seeing the full URL may help you decide if you want to click on it or not.
Brizzly automatically shortens URLs to bit.ly
You'll also notice trending topics on the right sidebar - Brizzly makes an effort to explain them. Again, saving you a few clicks.
3. Reply with a pic.
People can't resist pictures and will tend to click on a URL with the word 'pic' in it (best example - http://twitpic.com/... ) - smart move on Brizzly's part.
Nobody clicks on pic uploads via HootSuite because the URL is something uber-generic like http://ow.ly/i/2Ll
4. Clicking on reply opens up a field below the intended tweet. The way it ought to be.
5. Can save tweet as draft.
6. Supports multiple accounts. Up to five only.
7. Keyboard shortcuts same as Gmail.
But first, I had to disable 'Search for text when I start typing'. For Firefox, it's under Preferences > Advanced > General.
8. Once you reach the end of one scrollable page, the continuing page will appear in a second. Just keep scrolling, no clicking involved.
9. Click on friend's avatar to view all info, unfollow, add to group etc. One up from Hootsuite: allows muting.
10. IM-like notification for direct messages.
Hoosuite is the only other web-based app I use & can compare Brizzly to. Here are a few things that I really appreciate in Hootsuite and/or use a lot of:
• scheduled tweets - this is indispensable because I manage nine Twitter accounts. Schedule your tweets days/weeks/months in advance, and your tweetstream appears updated even when you're on holiday.
• click statistics (only for URLs shortened with the ow.ly shortener)
• supports not only pic uploads, but documents as well (doc, PDF, etc)
• feeds blog posts to Twitter, almost automagically
• multiple accounts - unlimited
• I can just select/"tick" whichever account I want to tweet from. In Brizzly, I have to switch accounts first. On an old iBook, this takes a few seconds sometimes.
Some other things Hootsuite has over Brizzly:
• supports Ping.fm
• adding users - this is different from adding Twitter accounts. You can have more than one user managing all of your multiple accounts.
I can't comment on Brizzly's "heaviness" or loading speed etc. On a 4.5-year-old iBook, I can say Brizzly runs about as fast/as slow as Hootsuite.
